Palmer’s versatility is on full display in this collection, with pieces arranged for chamber orchestra, clarinet and string quartet, and oboe and piano. Inspired by traditional 17th-century Japanese haiku, the three-movement piece creates a vivid meditative soundscape, capturing the dramatic splash of a frog into a still pond and the subsequent tranquil ripples.
